“I am building a cathedral.”

There is an old story of three stonecutters who were asked what they were building.  The first replied, "I am making a living."  The second kept on hammering while he said, "I am doing the best job of stone cutting in the entire country."  The third one looked up with a visionary gleam in his eyes and said, "I am building a cathedral."

As more and more skilled individuals take up their 'hammer' in the building of the local church known as "ACTS Church Lakeway," this is a fantastic story for us to keep in mind.  What …

Finding the way

Against our better judgment, we ignored the electronic keypad, drove between the stone pillars, and the steel gate slid shut behind us.

We - Alan, Phil, Cory, and I - were wandering through the rugged hills west of Austin, trying to find an arm of Lake Travis where a men’s outreach event was taking place. We were looking forward to bumping shoulders with about seventy other guys, whom we knew would already be comfortably crowded onto a large houseboat and an even larger dock.

However, our arrival was currently in jeopardy.
