History

A quick history lesson

ACTS Church Lakeway sprang into existence in 2001 when Pastor Bob Mueller was led to launch a new church in the Lake Travis area of west Austin. Bob and his wife Shauna and family soon began hosting a small group in their home for Bible study and discussion. This group prayed that God would give them the opportunity to communicate with those who were disconnected from God and from the local Church. Initially gathering under the name ‘CrossBridge Community Church,’ this hard-working group consistently reached out to other individuals and families with surprising acts of kindness. They began meeting regularly for contemporary worship services in a local community center, growing through five different locations in seven years.

After the Mueller family relocated to New Jersey in late 2007, the church went through a period of soul-searching. Convinced that their mission was as vital as ever, they invited Pastor Pete Mueller of Ellisville, MO, to serve as their second pastor. In the spring of 2009, shortly after Pete’s move to Texas, the church took a deep breath of faith and purchased a recently-constructed commercial building on Ranch Road 620 in Lakeway to serve as the headquarters for their growing ministry. The name of the church was changed in the summer of 2009, and the congregation intentionally began living out its ACTS values of Adventure, Community, Transformation, and Sending. Only God knows what 2010 and beyond will bring. But with a newly renovated home base in Lakeway, ACTS Church will be in a position to grow and to plant more churches in the years to come.

ACTS Church Lakeway continues to be supported by and affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, a worldwide church body made up of six thousand congregations.
